What we recommend, and why

These are the recommendations ALUMAX, Design and ELS all follow. Each one states where it applies, what to avoid, how strong the evidence behind it is, and when it was last reviewed. A recommendation reaches this page only once it has been approved — proposals still being worked on are not shown here.

Never invent a figure — and match the visibility class to the figure, not to the surface

Recommendation

Two obligations, and only the first is absolute. FIRST: never invent a figure. No RM amount, discount, saving percentage, band or comparison that was not produced by the pricing authority or the quotation tool. SECOND: classify the figure before deciding where it may appear — PUBLIC_INDICATIVE_PRICE, CUSTOMER_QUOTE_ONLY, INTERNAL_SELL_PRICE, INTERNAL_COST or INTERNAL_MARGIN, per the visibility classes. An approved indicative price is publishable and the business does publish it; a supplier cost or a margin is not, in any form, on any surface, ever. Where a relative band ($ / $$ / $$$) is the right instrument — a material comparison that should turn on durability rather than price — use it, but as a chosen presentation, not as a substitute for a figure the business has already approved for publication.

What to avoid

Inventing any figure. Publishing a supplier cost, a margin, an MOQ, a lead time in days or a defect rate. Showing a price and a margin indicator on the same surface, or an order-by date beside a required-on-site date — each pair gives away the withheld third value by arithmetic. Quoting an indicative price with no freshness date.

How strong the evidence is

Level B · PROVEN
Established practice, corroborated across more than one source.

Where that evidence comes from

  • alumax.pro publishes approved indicative prices; the Sell Catalog is the confirmed market-checked pricing authority
  • 2026-08-26 platform inspection — the previous wording asserted a prohibition the business does not follow

Galley kitchen working clearances

Recommendation

Hold a ~1100 mm clear walkway between opposing base runs, each run ~600 mm deep. Worktop height ~900 mm with roughly a 600 mm gap up to the upper cabinets. Around an island, keep ~1000-1200 mm circulation.

What to avoid

Walkways below ~1000 mm — the kitchen jams the moment a second person or an open appliance door is present.

Sink-base / wet-zone carcass material selection

Recommendation

Match the carcass to the moisture zone published in the material-zones canon: dry uppers / runs use board (P6 or plywood); prep + splashback use a sealed board or ACP; the sink base and other repeated direct-water positions use a non-absorbent carcass (ACP / honeycomb aluminium / full aluminium). Values are governed by the feed, not restated here.

What to avoid

P6 as the default in any repeated direct-water zone — moisture-resistant is not waterproof.

RULE-SR-DEFAULT-001Trade and specifiers

StayReady furnishes by bundle over existing SKUs, not bespoke

Recommendation

For income-property (StayReady) projects, start from the Essential / Plus / Signature bundle defaults rather than designing bespoke. Quantities in the bundles are planning baselines, not fixed counts, and carry no RM figures. Prioritise low-maintenance, replaceable, photographable furniture; avoid unnecessary hacking and premium accessories everywhere.

What to avoid

Bespoke ceiling work, premium cabinet accessories across the whole unit, fragile loose furniture, unnecessary wall demolition.

Tier naming — display labels vs code keys

Recommendation

Public tiers read Essential / Signature / Bespoke; StayReady reads Essential / Plus / Signature. Code keys stay Standard / Comfort / Premium and are mapped display-only via tierLabel(). Never surface the code keys to customers, never change a code key to match a display label.

What to avoid

Renaming the underlying code keys, or letting a display label leak into data/logic.

These records do not yet carry a link to the specific ALUMAX products or the Design guide that each recommendation relates to. Those links have to be reviewed one at a time before they are published — a recommendation pointed at the wrong product is worse than one pointed at nothing — so they are absent here rather than guessed.
